What is the Austria Missions Trip?
A group of men and women from Calvary Chapel Modesto volunteering to serve at the Calvary Chapel Retreat and Conference Center in Millstatt, Austria for the annual Calvary Chapel Central European Missions Conference.
How Long Is The Missions Trip?
The entire trip is just over 2 weeks (15 days) this year the dates are August 13 though the 27th.
What Is The “Purpose” or “Mission”?
The purpose of the trip is based on the Apostle John's admonition in 1 John
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16We will lay down OUR lives for the bretheren in serving the missionaries and castle staff for nine days. It is a “work” trip, not a vacation, It is a labor of love.
What Is The “Castle”
The Castle was built in the early 1900's as a Private residence, and has seen many different uses its 100 years of existence including a youth Nazi training center during Hitler's occupation of Austria. Schloss means "Castle" and Heroldeck comes from the builders son Herald. In the late eighties Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa purchased the Castle and began a Bible College and Study Center. The Bible college has moved to Hungary leaving the castle to serve as a retreat/conference center.
How Will The Team Be Serving?
The team arrives at the Castle in time to help with the first of two "Turn-Around" days. This is the day (Saturday) they transition the Castle from the previous weeks conference to the new conference. The entire grounds are cleaned and set up to facilitate the Missions Conference. During the Missions Conference each one is assigned to a Work Team. Theses teams can be the Housekeeping, Kitchen, Hospitality, Media, Grounds and more. After the conference the team helps with one more Turn-Around before relaxing for a few days in beautiful Salzburg.
